La Glaneuse
Art, Fashion and Agriculture
Inspired by Jules Breton's oil on canvas, Le Rappel des glaneuses, this silhouette pays homage to the peasant women immortalized by Jules Breton, revisited in a contemporary context.
This creation is inspired by the action of feeding and collecting, evoked by this 19th century flared skirt overloaded with denim bags. These pockets contrast between their sturdy exterior and their soft interior, filled with organic materials such as wheat and soil. The top, composed of a corset incorporating plants and flowers, symbolizes a second nourishing skin. This silhouette is a reflection of accumulation and harvest, both physical and symbolic.

This project was carried out at the Casa93 Mirail, Toulouse, France with the collaboration of Les Abattoirs museum, Toulouse.
Team - Bathilde Ferreaux, Dimzzoo, Kashish Jain
Flowers gathered from the surroundings and plastics from a nearby lake were used to create a corset top, symbolizing environmental cleanliness. The skirt features multiple pockets, highlighting its versatility in carrying various items of different sizes for multiple purposes. This design emphasizes sustainability and practicality, demonstrating innovative ways to keep our environment clean while showcasing functionality in fashion.
"Art, Fashion and Agriculture"
les Abattoirs, Musée - Frac Occitanie Toulouse and Casa93Mirail are joining forces to offer a unique collaboration in the form of a dialogue between art, fashion, textiles and peasant worlds.
Under the direction of naco paris, twelve young designers in training at Casa93Mirail have combined their talents to offer six unique textile creations, mixing their worlds and their practice with the reflections on the links between art and agriculture presented in the exhibition Artists and Peasants "Batting the Countryside".
Grouped into six pairs, the designers have chosen to reinterpret a work or a theme of the exhibition, replaying the aesthetics of the chosen works while pursuing the questions raised by the artists. This conversation between the visual arts, agriculture and fashion, between the artist's studio and the sewing workshop, gives the exhibition a new perspective. By embodying itself in textiles, it also highlights the place of bodies, human and animal, within the concerns of artists and intimate and collective narratives linked to the reality of the peasant world.
This collaboration has received the support of the Atelier Tuffery brand, a French denim producer for 130 years and a living heritage company, Terre de Pastel / Bleu par Nature, an Occitan pastelier recognized as intangible cultural heritage as well as the Friends of the Abattoirs association.
